CHAPTER 3. Let there be Love
So in the Beginning love came from our Heavenly Father,
but what EXACTLY is Gods love…?
Simply put… God’s love is God’s “Good” Just as your love is your “Good”
We see the first mention of Gods love in the first passages of scripture in the bible…
Gen 1:3-4: “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was GOOD…
There is ongoing debate as to the exact details behind creation but one thing is certain and that is when God created light God considered the light to be “GOOD”
The word “GOOD” is the English interpretation of the Hebrew word pronounced “Tobe”
and the Strongs Hebrew dictionary meaning for “tobe” is…
good, a good or good thing, beautiful, best, better, bountiful, cheerful, at ease, fair, to be in favour, fine, glad, graciously, joyful, kindly, kindness, liketh, loving, merry, most pleasant, pleasure, precious, prosperity, sweet, wealth, welfare, well favoured
There is no better word in the bible that describes the feeling behind the love we all experience than the word God used for “GOOD “
Gods love and our love is our “GOOD”
At this stage you might be questioning my logic thinking that your GOOD and Gods GOOD are poles apart but stay with me as there is more to explain…
LAW 1. Love is a FEELING of GOOD we inherited from God the Father
We feel GOOD when things are going right.
For God, His GOOD was He felt good when He created LIGHT in the DARKNESS.
The Hebrew word for “Light” is pronounced “Ore”
It literally means Light in the sense of illumination or luminary.
The word Light also figuratively means Happiness
For example Jesus said
John 8:12: “… I am the light (happiness) of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light (happiness) of life.”
Jesus was not saying he was a source of literal light but rather he was the source of happiness.
In contrast the Hebrew word for Darkness is pronounced
“kho-shek”
It literally means The dark
The word Darkness also figuratively means misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness, obscurity.
John 8:12 again…
I am the light (happiness) of the world:
he that follows me shall not walk in darkness,( misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness, obscurity. )
but shall have the light (happiness) of life.”
Gods feelings of happiness arises where there is “Gods Good”
It is also important to understand that there are levels of GOOD
These levels are the STRENGTH of Good we feel.
The feel of Good goes from subconscious and barely noticed to full blown passion where we can think of nothing else and our hearts feeling like they are about to explode…
When God created light it was GOOD but after creating the rest of Creation including humanity God said it was “VERY GOOD. “
Gen 1:31: “And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was VERY GOOD . And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.”
An example of a low level of Good might be the chair you are sitting right now…
You first sat down because it was more GOOD than standing…
Depending on the chair, you will be constantly adjusting your position depending on how long you sit for…
This will be mostly done at a subconscious barely noticed level.
You will move subconsciously from discomfort to comfort… darkness to light.
The same principles apply in all levels of love… we move from what is NOT GOOD to what IS GOOD.
We do this every minute of every day consciously but mostly unconsciously.
It’s from our heart ❤️ that we choose the clothes we ware , the food we eat, the cars we drive, the houses we live in and the people we do life with… all flowing from our version of what feels GOOD.
Gods love and our love is our “GOOD”
The difference between our GOOD and Gods GOOD is our VALUES which is the things we see value in and their surrounding CONTEXT…
When Adam was first created there was only one version of Love and that was Gods love.
Gods values and context.
God gave Adam free reign over all of creation except for when it came to the tree of the knowledge of GOOD and EVIL
Gen 2:15-17: “And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying,
Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it:
for in the day that thou eats thereof thou shalt surely die. “
We know from scripture that “in the day Adam did eat of the tree” that he did not physically die.
Rather, there was a moral death.
Adam went from what was Gods Good…
Gen 2:25: “The man and his wife were both naked, but they weren’t ashamed of it.”
…to Shame and condemnation.
Gen 3:7,10: “Then their eyes were opened, and they both realised that they were naked. They sewed fig leaves together and made clothes for themselves. …
He answered, “I heard you in the garden. I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.””
The context of Adam’s life had changed dramatically and with it Adams knowledge of good and evil had caused him to lose his innocence.
Mankind has been suffering from shame and condemnation ever since and trying to compensate for it with false pride and expensive objects ever since….
We look to others to validate who we are and judge our success by their version of what is GOOD.
The problem is that with the whole world is feeling the same way so it’s no wonder we are seldom told that we are ever good enough…
Jesus would later call this new version of love… “Mammon” which means… Personal Gain.
Mat 6:24: “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one,(Gods love) and love the other; (Mammon) or else he will hold to the one, (Gods love) and despise the other (Mammon).
Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
Notice how Jesus said there are only two masters in this world…
Gods love (Gods Good) or Mammon (what you consider Good for you)
Jesus also said we will SERVE only ONE of these two masters…
It’s worth noting at this point that the greatest servant in creation is God the Father.
God serves not because He has to but because He loves to.
God the Father is not looking for our mindless obedience but MINDFUL obedience within the guidelines of His love… a love that supports ALL of humanity.
We are all slaves to our Good so it’s important to get your Good right.
The underlying principles that support love are the same for Gods love and
Mammon the only difference is the personal Values and Context.
The goal in life is to feel Good…
You may be thinking that this sounds shallow but would you say the goal in life is to feel bad…?
The 3 most common FEELINGS of all Good are…
Happiness, Peace and Joy
We feel happiness
We feel joy
We feel peace
We feel good
We feel love
Love/Good is generally felt in our chest area and this is why we use the heart symbol ❤️ to represent love.
Happiness is a general feeling of well-being…
Peace is felt as comfort and serenity…
Joy comes from Accomplishment and from Discovery and is like a strong burst of happiness.
It is the feeling of love that is at the heart of everything we do.
All decisions are ultimately made in the heart.
SUMMARY…
Love originated with God our Father and we inherited love when we were made in His likeness.
Gods Love is Gods “Good” just as our love is our “Good”
There are two versions of love operating in the World today and they are Gods love and Mammon
Love is a FEELING.
Love is generally felt as…
Happiness, Peace and the Joy of discovery and accomplishment.
We will now move onto the Mechanics of love and what supports our love because…
WITHOUT SUPPORT THERE IS NO LOVE
